CONFESSION: “The Other F Word” Series on Amazon is a New Favorite of Mine

This is a partnered post, I did receive compensation for my involvement.  Any opinions stated within the post are my own.

Y’all have all heard of things you should not do after you turn 40. “You’re too old to have FUN” if it isn’t said directly, is often certainly implied.  I will be 43 next month, have lived and learned and am going to share something… #FunNeverGetsOld.  So here are five reasons why if you are a mid-life woman you might want to watch“The Other F Word,” a dramatic comedy series by award-winning filmmaker Caytha Jentis, available free on Amazon.

In no specific order:

REASON #1

The riveting new series has a cast that includes names such as: Steve Guttenberg (Police Academy), Michael Boatman (The Good Wife), Reiko Aylesworth (24), Judy Gold (Jim Gaffigan Show) and Ben Bailey (Cash Cab).  That’s right this is no fly by night series, they have some great actors and of course an award-winning filmmaker heading this series up.

REASON #2

“The Other F Word” addresses issues like ageism, sexism, re-entering the workforce, sexuality for women 40+, dating after divorce/widowhood and more. At its heart, the series is about friendship and finding oneself after the kids are grown – an adult coming of age in mid-life.  The older I get the more I realize that I need a tribe and I did need to rediscover ME at this different stage of life.

REASON #3

Amazon reviewers are raving about the new series because they recognize themselves in the characters and relate to the storylines.   I right away connected to Amy’s character in the series.  As a stay at home mom and homeschooler, when my daughter left for college those ‘roles’ were no longer my primary ones. I needed to find another one (which certainly isn’t the easiest task at 40!), so right from the first episode I could relate to Amy and her ‘plight’.

REASON #4

The “F word” in the title stands for 40 and 50—ages when women are often overlooked and ignored, (how many other dramadies do you know that star middle-age women?  They are few and far between).  But it also stands for “fun” because the #FunNeverGetsOld.  “The Other F Word” aims to show that life doesn’t end after 30. It only gets richer with age.  I’m still learning to navigate life over 40, but let me tell you one of the things I’ve learned is, it doesn’t matter what other people think, about my clothing, my activities, my career choices.  Life is short, I’m going to live it my way.

REASON #5

Did I mention it’s free and on Amazon?!  Stream it on your phone, your tablet, your TV, your PC – and because the episodes are between 5-7 minutes, you can grab one or two on a coffee break!  These are the perfect length, because when I want some entertainment when I watch “The Other F Word” I don’t have to worry about falling asleep half-way through (like mid-life women in the evening with a glass of wine just might do 😉 ).

This sums up my personal reasons why “The Other F Word” is a new favorite of mine. I hope it resonates with you and if you are familiar with “The Guild”, I think that “The Other F Word” is going to be to the forty-fifty mid-life women crowd like “The Guild” is to the gaming community.

  1. I have Amazon Prime but have never used it to watch shows. Books, yes, movies, yes. I don’t have a TV but if I could watch a SHORT episode this is something I’d try.
