Got No Strings to Hold This Film Down! Disney’s PINOCCHIO Available for the First Time on Digital HD

I’m excited to share some fun details about the free movie night kit Disney provided me with to host an in-home viewing of Pinocchio.  Movie watching has changed so much from when I was a kid. If you wanted to see a movie you had to go to the theaters (gosh I’m aging myself!). I remember when we got our first VHS machine to do movie watching at home, that was incredible to us. These days families have technology on their side and it’s not just the marvel of watching movies at home, but the ability to pretty much watch one anywhere you happen to be. What’s even more amazing is being able to share movies that you or perhaps that even your parents enjoyed, with your child, on these portable devices.

On February 23, Disney’s animated film PINOCCHIO will be 77.  77!!!  Can you believe that?  Surely a movie that spans 3 maybe even 4 generations is one that should be watched over and over again.  And now you can watch it any time, anywhere because in January, Pinocchio was released for the first time ever on Digital HD, as well as on Movies Anywhere and on a newly released Walt Disney Signature Collection Blu-Ray™ DVD!

It had been a long time since I had watched Pinocchio, and while I am a fan of a lot of the new animated features too, watching some classic animation brought me pure joy.  It was a lot of fun to combine the movie kit that Disney provided and the Digital HD copy of Pinocchio included in the Blu-Ray box to watch Pinocchio on the go.

It was the perfect weekend for this kit to arrive, I had planned inviting some friends in to watch the movie, but we ended up at Urgent Care which required a lot of waiting.  So with a fully charged iPad, some wireless headphones and the Digital HD copy of Pinocchio, I was still able to take Pinocchio with me all while singing: “I’ve got no strings  To hold me down  To make me fret  Or make me frown  I had strings  But now I’m free  There are no strings on me,”

We’ve got no strings (or wires) around here … well unless you count the “string” cheese we packed up with our marionette legs.. I mean pretzel sticks that I brought along with us to nosh on while we watched and waited 🙂

Even though I’ve watched the movie Pinocchio dozens of times, I love having a digital version and being able to watch it with Disney View in its original aspect ratio is beautiful.

If you don’t know what I mean, do you see those illustrated bars down the side?  Those are there for if you want to watch the movie in wide screen. Traditionally there would be black boxes on either side to keep the movie in its filmed ratio and not spread out to fill the whole screen.  With Disney View those black boxes become a frame within the movie in a artistic and seamless way.

“When You Wish Upon A Star” has a whole new meaning to me now too.  After Pinocchio had entertained us in small cramped rooms, on the car ride home twilight was beginning to descend.  We looked up and saw a star, perhaps even OUR family star, the one Disney named for us in the star registry!

Naturally we HAD to wish upon it, right?!  It must of worked because the stars aligned and just days later we were able to make plans and booked a reservation for a Disney Cruise later in the year 😉  Every time that ship’s horn blows I’ll be thinking about Pinocchio and our family star 🙂

So if you haven’t already, I suggest you pick up a copy of the Walt Disney Signature Collection Blu-Ray™ PINOCCHIO DVD.  It comes with a Digital HD copy that you can redeem on Movies Anywhere or other movie service platforms including iTunes.  Then when you’re watching Pinocchio on your tablet, smartphone or laptop, you too can sing:

“I’ve got no strings
So I have fun
I’m not tied up to anyone
They’ve got strings
But you can see
There are no strings on me”
