Taco Cabana launched its newest handmade menu item, tamales, just in time for the holiday season. The Taco Cabana tamales are available in green chile chicken and red chile pork at all TC locations while supplies last.
“Tamales are a traditional Mexican holiday dish that many Texans have grown up with,” said Taco Cabana Chief Operating Officer Todd Coerver. “Our new tamales are authentic, handmade and delicious, and a perfect way for Taco Cabana to celebrate the season with our guests.”
And I’d have to agree 🙂
Tamales are a Mexican dish of seasoned meat wrapped in cornmeal dough and steamed or baked in corn husks. Taco Cabana has partnered with critically acclaimed San Antonio tamale maker, Tamahli, to bring its guests authentic, hand-wrapped tamales made with quality ingredients, fresh-ground masa and no preservatives or fillers. Available in pork or chicken, the tamales can be purchased on a plate featuring 3 tamales, rice and beans for $6.49, in a three-pack for $3.99 or a la carte for $1.49 each.
Being relatively new to Texas (this is our third Christmas season here), I’d heard about tamales, but in all honesty I’d never eaten one before! Taco Cabana sent me some coupons so I went to try them. The three-pack size is a great lunch portion and the tamales really do taste terrific, and I now know that I’m going to be eating them every holiday season! What I love about Taco Cabana is that their food is ready and available, quick and convenient BUT still freshly made with the great flavor of Mexico in every bite. Before the holidays are over I’m going to be sure to head to Taco Cabana to get some more.
The Taco Cabana tamales are delicious all on their own, but if you’re feeling wild be sure to eat them alongside the many options of fresh salsa available for no extra charge at the Taco Cabana Salsa Bar.
If you’ve never had a tamale, you’re missing out on a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays. Head over to Taco Cabana and grab yourself a few to try them yourself!
