Alamo Then & Now: How My Family Travels Now

A little over a week ago, I shared with you a bit about how my family traveled while I was growing up as part of a campaign from Alamo featuring the Then & Now of Family Travel. One of my favorite trips was one to Germany to celebrate my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. While we were there my parents rented a car and took my siblings and I on a road trip to several other European countries.

Traveling as a parent myself now with my family is similar, but also very different!

Interestingly enough, we travel…to visit my parents..our daughter’s grandparents. So road tripping to see the relatives is very much the same, and for the same reasons…holidays and celebrations!

As well as fun vacation destinations. Although Disney World has changed a lot from when I was a kid!

(I wonder if Mickey rented that car from Alamo?! Probably, because they are the official rent-a-car of the Disney Resorts!)

Here is where the difference comes in. While we played word and sight games, read and pretty much took over the backseat of whatever vehicle we happened to be in, this is my daughter’s road trip survival kit.

Which has just been upgraded over the years…

Yes a lot of electronics travel with us. Laptops, cameras, tablets, smart phones, if it powers on, we probably have it with us!  We apparently take a lot more pictures than my parents did too, hooray for digital memories!

But technology is a great thing because with it you can find Alamo Deals!
